Chicago 2024 Host Committee Announces Open Application to Neighborhood Ambassadors Program
CHICAGO, IL –– Today, the Chicago 2024 Host Committee announced the opening of applications for its Neighborhood Ambassadors program, which invites residents from across Chicago’s 77 community areas and several surrounding suburbs to assist with volunteer recruitment and community engagement efforts. The application is live on the Host Committee’s website and will close on Friday, February 9, 2024.
Neighborhood Ambassadors are responsible for recruiting volunteers for the Democratic National Convention, as well as hosting neighborhood events and serving as the liaison between their communities and Convention leadership.
“We are thrilled to launch our Neighborhood Ambassadors program today to further our commitment to ensuring the voices of all 77 community areas in Chicago are represented in Convention planning and execution,” said Christy George, Host Committee Executive Director. “We look forward to collaborating with these community leaders to host a spectacular Convention for residents and attendees alike.”
“There has been a tremendous amount of interest in volunteering for this Convention, and we are excited to be able to announce this exciting next step in our volunteer recruitment process,” said Mo Green, Host Committee Senior Director of Civic and Community Engagement. “We need 12,000 volunteers to successfully host the Convention in August. Our Neighborhood Ambassadors will be crucial for reaching that goal.”
Neighborhood Ambassadors must live in the neighborhood or community area in which they are applying to represent and have a demonstrated record of volunteerism or civic and community engagement. Ambassadors will be expected to recruit a minimum of 50 volunteers from their respective communities, host and attend volunteer and civic engagement events, communicate Host Committee updates to their neighborhoods, and provide feedback to the Host Committee as it relates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
All Ambassadors will be entered into a contest to recruit the highest number of volunteers. The Ambassadors who recruit the most volunteers will receive a prize as well as a credential to attend the Democratic National Convention.
