When can I register for my volunteer shifts?
If you applied to volunteer before July 21, shifts are now being released on an ongoing basis! To sign up for your volunteer shifts, visit scheduling.chicago.2024.com. You can access a step-by-step guide here.
I am struggling to schedule a volunteer shift. What do I do?
Once you sign in, you will be brought to your dashboard. To register for shifts, click the green button under DNC 2024 Scheduling. This will bring you to the shift selection and also allow you to modify your schedule.
Will there be more shifts released?
Yes, there will be more shifts released in the upcoming days. Thank you for your patience!
What is the status of my background check?
Due to a change in our security protocol, we only will conduct background checks for individuals who register for shifts. You will only hear about the status of your background check in the event that you do not pass.
What happens next?
In the days leading up to the convention, your shift leaders will reach out to you to introduce themselves. All volunteers will also be required to participate in a virtual volunteer orientation session that will be held in August. Volunteers will receive details about this session shortly as background checks conclude.
What will volunteers do?
Volunteers will play a critical role in bringing the Democratic National Convention to life. Volunteers will contribute in various ways, including but not limited to, greeting guests, giving directions, assisting with event check-in, providing transportation for credentialed guests, and much more. When applying for shifts, each role will have a description of its responsibilities.
What is the time commitment?
You can see each shift’s date and time on the “Shift Select” screen. You can register for however many hours/shifts that you are willing to do. Certain volunteer activities may have limits on the number of shifts you can register for.
How are volunteer shifts assigned and confirmed?
The Democratic National Convention Committee and Chicago 2024 Host Committee are not assigning volunteers to shifts. Instead, all volunteers will be able to select their shifts online. You can register for your shifts today by visiting this link.
Will parking be available to volunteers?
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Millenium Garages to provide all volunteers with discounted parking in the heart of downtown Chicago! Volunteers can reserve their parking here. Volunteers will be responsible for coordinating their own public transportation from Millennium Garages to their respective volunteer sites. Volunteers will not be able to park at the United Center or McCormick Place.
Will transportation be provided to volunteers?
Unfortunately, free or subsidized volunteer transportation will not be provided.
Will meals be provided during volunteer shifts?

How do I notify the volunteer team of any accommodations that I may need?
If you require accommodations, please select the “Volunteers with Accommodations” registrant type. If you select this registration type, you will be required to complete a brief questionnaire about your specific needs after you select your shifts. Please read the position descriptions carefully as they identify any physical or sensory requirements for each position. Select positions that best fit your abilities.
