Glenwood Systems, Inc.

Glenwood Systems, Inc. (GSI), founded by principal consultant Jim Nelson (he/him), has a thirty-two year history of providing excellence in engineering services for corporate and broadcast television as an outsourced service. With a personal pivot in 2012 to include event AV experience, via IBEW Local 1220 employers and inspiration from the Green Sports Alliance, GSI is now doing event AV Off-grid with real-time and stored solar energy using solar panels. Our website does not reflect this pivot yet, however, some of GSI’s sustainable work is on my LinkedIn profile (Search: James Nelson Glenwood Systems). GSI has been doing Off-grid sustainable events since early beta testing in 2016. Small to medium sized events (~200 attendees to this point) for Speaker Public Address (PA), Music Playback/Lighting/Intercom for Dance, Powering Instrument amplifiers and Sound Support for Live Musician Performances, Monitor(s) for PowerPoint/Keynote Slides for Presentations(/Signage/Branding) all done Off-grid and in most cases, Fossil-free. This year we are expanding to add: Video Projection (5K Lumens), Video Image-Magnification (I-Mag) using Broadcast Cameras, Video Playback (with Sound), expanded Lighting capabilities with DMX control, Press Audio Feeds, Video Recording and Streaming.

Through IBEW union employment work (Not GSI), I have engineered video and technical directed for corporate executives, union leaders, the Illinois governor and US presidents/VPs for mission critical events at McCormick Place and Chicago hotels.

The sustainable services described above are my personal works towards addressing Climate Change and Planet Sustainability. Of a side note, since the sun is not always available, in most cases GSI provisions for no sun by bringing stored solar energy. This “hardens” us against a loss of sun, but also means that we do not need utility power to be dependable, so we are mostly fail-safe by design with thousands of watt-hours of stored energy at hand.
